ALEXANDRA
THE CHALLENGE
For a family of six with four grown children, we delivered a 9,000-square-foot home in storied First Shaughnessy. While the Alexandra Residence is entirely new, every element in this Tudor-style property is built to evoke with the neighborhood’s history, giving a very young home an immediate and lasting legacy.
Brick garden walls, copper eaves, and limestone moldings lend a sense of deep, romantic history to a brand-new exterior.
A hand carved stair rail, oak herringbone floors, and custom millwork throughout make every space feel lovingly crafted.
The home’s cosmopolitan energy includes several recreational spaces downstairs: there’s a speakeasy, wine room, home theatre, and gym.
In the kitchen, purple Calacatta marble is crafted into striking counters and backsplash; likewise, the living room fireplace is carved from a single block of richly veined stone.
Inspired by archival photography of the neighbourhood, we worked with craftspeople to deliver finishes, mouldings, and architectural details that respect history without ever turning cliché.
